Attorney General Todd Blanche is highlighting a series of recent Pennsylvania fentanyl cases as evidence of an aggressive federal push against drug trafficking, pointing to prosecutions that range from an alleged high-volume street operation in Philadelphia to cases tied to fatal overdoses and repeat drug offenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the largest cases involves four Philadelphia men charged in a superseding federal indictment on October 1, 2026<\/strong>. Prosecutors allege the group operated what investigators call the \u201cHot Sauce DTO\u201d<\/strong> in Kensington, receiving and distributing bulk quantities of fentanyl around the 2800 block of Kensington Avenue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the indictment, the organization allegedly sold fentanyl in bundles containing about 16 individual bags<\/strong> and moved as many as 100 bundles per day<\/strong> \u2014 equivalent to roughly 1,600 bags daily<\/strong> at peak volume. Three defendants are also accused of distributing fentanyl and carfentanil that resulted in a person\u2019s death in August 2025. Those charges are allegations, and all four defendants are presumed innocent unless convicted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n A separate federal case in Monroe County has already resulted in lengthy prison terms. James P. Cullen V and Michelle Lindsay Ferranti<\/strong>, both of Bartonsville, were sentenced on September 3 after pleading guilty in a fentanyl-trafficking conspiracy that prosecutors said caused the deaths of three people. Cullen received 25 years<\/strong>, while Ferranti received 20 years<\/strong>, for a combined 45 years in federal prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Investigators said Cullen and Ferranti operated through a darknet marketplace, accepted cryptocurrency and mailed opioids to customers. Federal agents linked their records to nearly 1,000 drug transactions sent to 49 states and overseas<\/strong>, eventually connecting their shipments to three fatal overdoses in different states. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Blanche also highlighted the September sentencing of Melvin Dorsey-Pace<\/strong>, 33, of New Castle. A federal judge sentenced him to 212 months in prison<\/strong>, followed by six years of supervised release, after he pleaded guilty to trafficking mixtures containing fentanyl, heroin and cocaine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The public DOJ record says Dorsey-Pace was already on federal supervised release when the new offense occurred and that this was his third federal drug-trafficking conviction in 10 years<\/strong>. He had been released from prison in 2024 after an earlier conviction. Contrary to one version of Blanche\u2019s remarks circulating online, the published federal case summary does not state that his previous sentence had been commuted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Together, the cases illustrate different stages of federal enforcement: the Philadelphia defendants remain accused and awaiting adjudication, while the Monroe County and New Castle defendants have already pleaded guilty or been convicted and sentenced. That distinction is essential when describing the Justice Department\u2019s recent activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Blanche, who became the 88th U.S. attorney general in August 2026<\/strong>, has identified dismantling drug-trafficking organizations as one of his department\u2019s central enforcement priorities.
