Local reports published November 5 brought attention to the encounter in the northern Mexican municipality.

People who witnessed the animal described it as appearing frightened, according to N+. POSTA reported that the bear walked around the room as residents watched, apparently searching for a way out.

The available reporting leaves the precise date of the recording and the animal’s entry point unresolved. Those details limit what can be established about how an ordinary residential space became the setting for such a close wildlife encounter.

Black bears inhabit mountainous areas of northeastern Mexico, including Nuevo León. Mexico’s federal environmental agency, PROFEPA, identifies the Sierra Madre Oriental’s wooded terrain as part of the species’ historical habitat, providing context for encounters near residential areas.

Food and unsecured trash can attract bears toward homes, according to Nuevo León’s Civil Protection agency. That general explanation offers context for urban sightings, while the reason the bear entered this particular property remains unknown.

State authorities advise residents to keep their distance, avoid feeding or disturbing bears and report encounters to emergency services. Properly securing household waste also helps reduce the food sources that can draw wildlife into residential neighborhoods.

A video from San Pedro Garza García captures an unexpected encounter between residents and local wildlife.
