The longtime Trump adviser takes over November 9 as Wiles moves to the president\u2019s political operation.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

WASHINGTON \u2014 President Donald Trump is elevating Stephen Miller to White House chief of staff, placing one of his most trusted advisers in charge of his West Wing team. The appointment takes effect Monday, November 9, Trump announced Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miller currently serves as deputy chief of staff. His promotion puts a longtime member of Trump\u2019s inner circle in the administration\u2019s top staff position, succeeding Susie Wiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wiles will move to Trump\u2019s political operation, according to the president\u2019s announcement. Trump praised her performance and thanked her for her service, presenting the transition as a continuation of her work on his behalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The change comes days after Republicans\u2019 losses in the midterm elections. Trump\u2019s announcement did not explicitly connect the personnel decision to those results. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miller has worked with Trump since his 2016 presidential campaign and has played a central role in shaping his immigration agenda. Wiles, the first woman to serve as White House chief of staff, helped lead Trump\u2019s successful 2024 campaign before joining his administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a separate statement Friday, Wiles said her final day as chief of staff had arrived and reaffirmed her commitment to the president. Her departure and Miller\u2019s Monday start establish the timetable for a transition at the center of Trump\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
