From a guest role on the ’90s teen drama to an August fashion cover, Johnson built a career in television, film and beauty.
Kimmarie Johnson, the actress and model whose screen credits included Beverly Hills, 90210 and Dude, Where’s My Car?, died Wednesday, November 4, at age 50. Her niece, Rhonda Scott, confirmed her death in an interview with People.
Scott said her aunt experienced a heart-related emergency at her Los Angeles home on October 27. Johnson was taken to Cedars-Sinai and died the following week, according to the family’s account.
Johnson grew up in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, and competed in beauty pageants before moving to Los Angeles. In 1998, she appeared in an episode of Beverly Hills, 90210. Two years later, she wore an alien jumpsuit in Dude, Where’s My Car?, the comedy starring Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott.
Fashion gave Johnson a career alongside acting. She modeled for Vidal Sassoon and United Colors of Benetton, among other brands. In 2011, she launched SkinGlow by Kimmarie, putting her own name on a line of skincare products.
Johnson continued modeling this year. In August, nearly three decades after her appearance on 90210, she appeared on a digital cover of Grazia Slovenia. She also shared her fashion work with followers on Instagram.
Johnson was the mother of Los Angeles musician Cameron Nino. When Scott spoke about her aunt on Thursday, she recalled how people felt in her company. “She radiated a light so strong and bright,” she told People.
